Political DaddyBall

Well, both my sons began their AAU practice yesterday. My 12 year old is playing for the first time. He met his new coach. He immediately comes over to me (my son) and tells me "thats his son over there dad, he's playing too." I said, oh well, such is life son. Solater on the 12 year old comes over and tries to hate on his teammate. I said son, the coach's son is a baller. What are you complaining about? But I take the blame for this one. I guess I have him thinking all dads who coach play daddyball. See, I have no problem at all if your son can play the game. But on the otherhand, my 1o year old who plays with the 11u team. Thats a different story. The assistant coach is politick'n real bad for his son to be the back-up point guard. No way! The kid does not have it at this level. He would be good at a YMCA league game. Anyway, the 11u team scrimmages the my other son's 12u team. The first couple of quarters my 10 year old just kind od runs down the court on both ends not really into the game. He really needs to strengthen his game playing without the ball. So I sit in the stands and tell my wife how lost our son looks. I mention to her that he needs to learn to get into the flow of the game without having the ball. I also notice the coach's son, who is the starting point guard doesn't pass the ball much when my son is open.

Anyway, my observation come to the truth. I always tell my 10 year old to grab the defensive rebounds and start your own fast break with you at the point, when you feel the need to play the position, especially since the coaches are not putting you there. So he does. He runs the point and the team sped is now moving at a faster pace. he passes to the open man and hit some driving lay-ups. He really opened up the offense. Though the 12u team beat the 11u players, once again it clearly showed my 10 year old is the best player on their team at that position.

Because I'm not really use to youth sports, it's confusing to me because you want all the players to play, but at the same time, I always thought you played your best players who played the best in their positions. Am I suppose to be satisfied because he starts and they play him out of position? So, do I just shut-up and not say anything?
