Okay, my oldest is in high school and the youngest is in the 8th grade. Time is really moving fast. It seems like only yesterday when my 8th grader started playing AAU basketball when he was in the 4th grade. Because I grew up in an era when athletes had to win their spot on a team, or at least in my own personal experiences, I've noticed another kid of daddy ball in public school. My younger kid also plays football for his school. The quarterback on the team has a family that is highly respected in our small community. the granddad is a criminal judge. Anyway, parents are now going to talk to the high school coaches right before the child enrolls the next year. Kind of like prepping the coach. I had one friend to tell me he donated to the booster club, with the intent to influence the coach to play his son more, wow! I've now realized I am living in the past by telling my sons your playing ability will dictate your playing time.
Well let me say this, I will continue to live in the past and feel that the extra practice time and the hard work the kids put into it will dictate their playing time. I know deep down in my heart that if a player continues to work hard to improve on skill sets and their mental prep, it will all pay off in the long run.
